Hi everyone,
We're in the process of buying a timber frame house in Co Clare. Can anyone recommend home insurance companies which cater for such houses? I realize our vendors will be able to inform us of where they are insured, but it would be nice to have an overview of a wider selection of insurers.
Thanks a lot
Frances :)

Hi Francis,
I'm director of The Log House Company. The best insurers are Lloyds through a broker. I got fed up shopping around. It got to the point after spending 20 mins giving my details to some lackey that I was then passed on to a supervisor who said we don't insure log houses, like I had some kind of disease. I got clever and started asking for the supervisor but still got the same. Most insurances companies in Ireland are actually brokers to about 5 companies. It's a joke. We're in the EU we should be able to insure in any country eg Sweden who insure timber clad and log houses.
I'm looking into this. Check FAQ on my web site www.theloghousecompany.com
Also the best house bonders are Premier Guarantee.
