I spoke to a company that does heat load calculations for houses in order to remove some of the guess work from the specification of my heating system. If the building envelope is sufficiently well insulated that a few rads with a small boiler will get us by then I'd prefer to know before I spend >10k on UFH.

The company requires the obvious stuff such as u-values for walls, floor, ceiling, windows.

I also must specify the heating system I'll be using and the type of control it will have i.e. UFH with a zone per room with a thermostat in each room.

I find this a little annoying to say the least. The whole point of getting the calculation done is for them to recommend to me what I should use imho.

Anyone else looked into 1 of these and am I missing something?

Try these guys, www.wowenergy.ie got an email back yesterday, following on from a query on their website.

"In response, we would be happy to advise on the various elements, however, we currently have a backlog of work and it may be three weeks before we could undertake any additional work."

If your not in a rush, it seems they would be able to help you. Alteratively I imagine the should be some companies flogging their services in the RDS over the next few days.

Another company that was recomended to me was http://www.energy365.ie/ haven't checked them out though.
